Primal-Dual Strategy for State-Constrained Optimal Control Problems
State constrained optimal control problems represent severe analytical and numerical challenges. A numerical algorithm based on an active set strategy involving primal as well as dual variables, suggested by a generalized Moreau-Yosida regularization of the state constraint is proposed and analyzed. Numerical examples are included.

Title of dissertation: PRIMAL-DUAL ALGORITHMS FOR COMBINATORIAL OPTIMIZATION PROBLEMS Julián Mestre Doctor of Philosophy, 2007 Dissertation directed by: Professor Samir Khuller Department of Computer Science Combinatorial optimization problems such as routing, scheduling, covering and packing problems abound in everyday life. At a very high level, a combinatorial optimization problem amounts to...
متن کاملPrimal-dual path-following algorithms for circular programming
Circular programming problems are a new class of convex optimization problems that include second-order cone programming problems as a special case. Alizadeh and Goldfarb [Math. Program. Ser. A 95 (2003) 3-51] introduced primal-dual path-following algorithms for solving second-order cone programming problems. In this paper, we generalize their work by using the machinery of Euclidean Jordan alg...
متن کاملAdaptive Primal-dual Hybrid Gradient Methods for Saddle-point Problems
The Primal-Dual hybrid gradient (PDHG) method is a powerful optimization scheme that breaks complex problems into simple sub-steps. Unfortunately, PDHG methods require the user to choose stepsize parameters, and the speed of convergence is highly sensitive to this choice. We introduce new adaptive PDHG schemes that automatically tune the stepsize parameters for fast convergence without user inp...
متن کاملPrimal-Dual Projected Gradient Algorithms for Extended Linear-Quadratic Programming
Many large-scale problems in dynamic and stochastic optimization can be modeled with extended linear-quadratic programming, which admits penalty terms and treats them through duality. In general the objective functions in such problems are only piecewise smooth and must be minimized or maximized relative to polyhedral sets of high dimensionality. This paper proposes a new class of numerical met...
